Upcycled Vases

Upcycled Vases

You’ve probably seen the trend of upcycling bottles and vases all over the internet, I thought I’d jump on in and give it a try!

I threw a very small Greek themed dinner party this weekend and I wanted to add something a little different to my table and figured this was the perfect time to try the painted vases.

Check out the steps below and create your own ceramic textured vases with materials that you probably already have at home!

Materials

  1. Old bottles or vases

  2. Paint - I used regular craft acrylic paint that I had on hand from Michaels

  3. Baking Powder

  4. Sponge paint brush

  5. A small container for mixing paint

Steps

  1. Mix about 1 teaspoon of baking powder with about 1 - 1 1/2 tablespoons of paint (this all depends on how textured you want your bottles to be). When you stir it together it should start to puff up

  2. With your sponge brush paint a base coat with the mixture you made and let dry.

  3. Once the first coat is dry you will have to repeat the step 1-2 more times till you’re happy with the texture.

  4. Once your bottles are dry you can start filling them with florals or just leave them as is and use them for decor!

What color would you paint your vases?

Cheers!
